So I found on an article about how media and video games were
blamed for real-life problems like the Sandy Hook
Elementary School massacre. In the article, it briefly talks about
how Dr. Chris Ferguson, an associate professor of psychology at Texas A&M
International University, conducted a series of multi-year studies on 11 to 18
years old kids to find out if violent video games affect their psyches. In his
conclusion, he found no evidences that video games had connections to violent
behavior. Also the article talks about how comics and rock music were blamed in
the past for the violent behavior as well and how it's become easy for the new
generations to blame violent behavior on these things. My opinion on this topic
is that it is easy to blame these types of mass media on these violent acts when
probably there are parents/ guardians who don't want to take the blame for it themselves.

Media Autobiography
The short essay about my relationship with the eight types
of mass media: Books, Newspapers, Magazines, Movies, Recordings (Audio/Music),
Radio, Television and the Internet.
- Books: The relationship that I have had with books was not that great as I was a child and the main reason for this was because of how distracted I was with my ADD, plus I never really got into it practice because of my obsession for television and video games, which took up almost all my time. At one point in my childhood though, I was into making comic books and kids’ story until I joined some sports in high school.
- Newspapers: Newspaper really never got my intention, the only I found myself looking at a newspaper was for a class or something.
- Magazines: With magazines, I found my interested in technology and weight training. Also I did have a point in my life during middle school where I wanted to make a magazine about music, but sadly that didn’t last too long after seeing all the mistakes I made in my first two issues.
- Movies: Movies have always been my favorite type of mass media. When I was in high school, I work at a blockbuster store, which I can say was my favorite job. The reason for that was because I love talking about movies, helping my customer finds the perfect movie for their night, and just my connection with this type of mass media.
- Recordings (Audio/Music): For this type of mass media, I didn’t have much experience of this type of mass media before high school because I was not that interested it, but after I found my love for all types of music.
- Radio: My relationship with radio didn’t start until after high school, mainly because I didn’t find myself listening to it until I got my first car around that time. The only things that I have found from the radio that interest me are the prizes that you can win and the music.
- Television: This is one of my top favorite types of mass media. Since I can remember I have always been captured by this type of mass media. Mainly when I was young, I was inspired by it that I wanted to grow up and be a cartoonist. My family saw this and went out of their way to get me cartoonist’s kits and programs that would help reach my dream job. After sometime, I eventually lost interest in it because I found myself comparing my work to others.
- Internet: The relationship I had with the internet didn’t seem to start until high school. I think the thing that got me in it first might have been when MySpace first became big and then I found myself using it more after I learned that I could hack phones and get free games.
